Signing in

For everyone, signed in or not.

Made from build 2026.10.10.04-f62cf6c, with screenshots taken on 10 October 2026.

There is no password anywhere in ChainSight. You sign in with your email address and a six-digit code we email you. If you are an agent or an admin, you also use an authenticator app on your phone. This page walks through each step, and what to do if one of them goes wrong.

1 The first time: your invitation

Nobody can sign themselves up to ChainSight. Estate agents are invited by their agency, and buyers and sellers by the agent handling their sale, so your first contact is an email invitation.

The link in it opens a page naming the agency that invited you. Press Continue to sign in. The link works for seven days if you are a buyer or seller, and for 48 hours if you are an agent, and it can only be used once.

If you are an agent, install a free authenticator app on your phone before you open the link, because you set it up straight afterwards: Setting up your authenticator below says which.

If the link has expired, you do not need a new one. Your account exists from the moment you were invited, so you can sign in with the same email address at any time, as described below.

2 Your email, then a six-digit code

Enter your email address and tick the box confirming you are a person. The Send sign-in code button stays greyed out until you do, and says so.

A six-digit code arrives by email within a few seconds. The code is in the subject line, so you can usually read it without opening the email. Type it in to continue.

A code lasts five minutes and allows five tries. Asking for another code replaces the last one, so always use the newest. If you enter the wrong code too many times in a short while, sign-in pauses for a few minutes before you can try again.

If you are a buyer or seller, that is the whole process, and you are in.

3 Agents and admins: the authenticator code

Anyone who can change something on a property adds a second code, from an authenticator app on their phone. You are asked for it every time you sign in. Buyers and sellers are not, because they can only look.

Signed in with the wrong address, or cannot reach your authenticator? Use a different account, under the code box, signs you out so you can start again.

4 Setting up your authenticator

The first time you sign in as an agent, you set the authenticator up. Before you start, install a free authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Twilio Authy, from the App Store or Google Play. Any authenticator app works, including the one built into a password manager. Our page Setting up your authenticator app has links to each one and the same steps, with help if something goes wrong.

Introduction to setting up two-factor authentication
Authenticator setup screen with a scannable code and a manual key
  1. Press Set up authenticator app, and a QR code appears.
  2. In your authenticator app, tap + and scan the code with the app, not your phone's camera. In Microsoft Authenticator, choose Other account first.
  3. Setting up on the phone you are reading this on? You cannot scan your own screen, so copy the key under the code and choose to enter a key in your app instead.
  4. Type in the six-digit code the app shows, and press Verify and finish. The code changes every 30 seconds.
Scanned a code before and did not finish? Each time you start, a new code is shown, so delete the old ChainSight entry from your app and scan the new one.
Want codes in more than one place? For example your phone and a password manager. Scan the same code into each app before you finish: this is the only time it is shown.

You are then shown ten backup codes. Save them somewhere other than your phone. There is a Copy button and a Download button under them, so you do not have to write them out.

Ten single-use backup codes, shown once
The backup codes are shown once. We cannot show them to you again. If you lose them, you can make a fresh set from your account settings once you are signed in.

5 If you lose your phone

Enter one of your backup codes where the authenticator code would go. Each code works once. You are then taken straight to setting up a new authenticator, and given ten new backup codes.

If you have lost your backup codes as well, ask an admin at your agency to reset your authenticator. You then set a new one up the next time you sign in. If you are a Branch Admin, an Agency Admin at your agency does this. If nobody at your agency can, contact us.

6 How long you stay signed in

On the website, you stay signed in for up to 24 hours, and you are signed out sooner if you have not used ChainSight for 8 hours. The sign-in page then says your session has ended. This is because a browser may be on a shared computer.

In the ChainSight app, a buyer or seller stays signed in for up to seven days, because the app asks for Face ID or Touch ID every time it opens. Agents and admins sign in again every 24 hours, on the app and the website alike, with their authenticator code.

7 If you still cannot sign in

  • The code never arrives. Check your spam folder, then ask for a new code. Make sure you are using the email address you were invited with.
  • The page says your account is suspended. It says who to contact: an admin at your agency if you are an agent, or the agent who invited you if you are a buyer or seller. If it says your agency's account is inactive or has closed, contact us.
  • You were never invited. Ask your agent, or if you are an estate agent, an admin at your agency. Nobody can create their own account.
  • Anything else. Reply to any email from ChainSight and it reaches our support team.
